MORGAN COUNTY, Ind. (August 29. 2015)–Two women had to be rescued Saturday evening after their canoe flipped on White River.

The women told authorities their canoe flipped around 6 p.m. and they ended up stranded on a sand bar in the middle of White River.

The pair were about one mile north of the Henderson Ford Bridge when the mishap occurred.

The women were able to use their cell phone to call the canoe rental office who in turn called the Morgan County Sheriff’s office.

Fire rescue crews were able to put boats in the water and rescue the women who were not hurt.
