News Watch

The Playak News Watch continously finds the world"s new paddling headlines. From the huge number of headlines it finds, Playak editors hand-pick and present the best ones (yes, that is very subjective, but they do their best to please our readers) every day, and those that then get the most reader views are sent out in the daily News Flash. Each Friday, we send out the Weekly Digest (instead of the daily News Flash), containing the top headlines of the past 7 days, as well as the most popular videos and forum topics, and a list of upcoming paddling events.

Andrew Hughes Achieves World Record for Paddle Boarding Highest Altitude

SUP Connect (58 min. ago) - This winter, professional adventurer Andrew Hughes set out to paddle board the highest altitude body of water. In doing so, he ended up earning himself a world record for just that! Hughes found the volcanic pool of Tres Cruces Norte in Atacama, Chile – the highest alpine lake, sitting at an astounding 19,780 ft. And what’s more, Hughes wanted his record-breaking paddle to draw attention to the alpine lakes that are disappearing before our eyes, and more importantly, the reason they’re disappearing: climate change. We caught up with Andrew to ask him about his achievement and more. Check out our interview with him below.  read more...

Seven River and Nature Poems

American Rivers (5 hrs. ago) - Green divided by white rapids. The shivering soul-reaching shock of the water. The beverage of the animals. Drowning not in water but in a sense of belonging. The water’s writing engraves the rocks like the graphite from my pencil engraves this paper.  read more...
