I live in Benicia and have had my Yak out about 5 times. If you know Benicia in the summer its windy. I haven't been out with
winds less than 15 Mph. I went out yesterday with the new rudder installed..what a difference! I was able to track straight and steer
while paddling on both sides. The last few times I was out, I had 15 to 20 mph winds at my back with the tide going out against the wind.
This created a following swell about 1.5 to 2 ft - confused... with out the rudder I had to fight to keep the Yak  from going sideways into the swell. The rudder was sweet , I could steer and keep the Yak perpendicular to the swell. At one point I stopped paddling and just let the wind
blow me down to 9th Street. I had one swell nearly tip me - i was able to steer to recover. Good Investment!

Caught one small striper trolling. Didnt even know it was on the line  :smt001

Just be aware ... in too much of a following sea or when quartering down, a rudder can actually be a hindrance and kick your tail out too much.  I'll actually pull my rudder up in these situations.
