Thanks for re-sharing such a silly, emtionally driven post.

My 5 yr anniversary is coming close (happened on 10/18/10)
the odds have gotten higher since i shared these facts.

I cant even invite others to fish the ocean anymore, because if someting went down, i'd NEVER let myself off the hook.

And here I was taking it all personal that you didn't like me or something.

Adam, I remember the day you got hit. I heard that big "BOOM" and you were in the water.
Although, we have seen lots of GWS all over the bay, I think "Bean" still has the highest number of confirmed attacks, and sightings. To each man his own.

To all those who have scored at the bean, congrats!!! I remember those Big full stringers and getting congratulated by MOOCH when I was a noob. All fond memories.

Thanks for posting this Adam, Just makes us realize the danger we face everytime we go out there, I love BH this is where I learned pretty much everything, I never go out by myself anywhere in the Ocean, I have a simple philosophy in life, if its your its your time, whether your inside or outside your house, I saw my Father passed away in front of me while having lunch, I've witness an accident that no one could have survived but all passengers came out unscratched, I've heard of people die in asleep, so I realized everyday could be our time, why not live it to its fullest with no regrets, Like BigJim said, I kissed my family Goodbye and tell them I love them all the time, I even say it before I go to sleep...just in case I wont wake up, we all have responsibilities all we got to do is prepare them if anything happen. knock on woods...

I'm all for living life to the fullest but at some part of life you gotta wake up and smell the roses. The risk isn't worth the reward to me. good fishing are everywhere!!!

There are 1,000 ways to die (Spike TV), FM1 says if you dip your finger in the water and its salty theres a shark there. Those who fished the area are very aware of the risk, is it worth the reward? Heck no, nothing is worth it if your life is at stake if you put it that way, then again, you shouldn't be driving outside your house since you may get into a car accident nor probably step outside since you might get hit by a lightning, if you go by the statistics those are more likely to happen than getting eaten by shark, I am ok with all the warning being posted and I respect every bit of it totally. I love fishing and love everything I've learned from this board. I have high respect to those on the receiving end that live to tell their stories. I fish SMC until end of August. After August is when consider higher risk since the migration start early fall. Also I advise that everyone who wants to fish this place should be aware of the danger. The title "Preparing to die at Bean Hollow" is somewhat harsh in my point view since I fish this area a lot, I hope this wish will never come true.  :smt006

Darius it was great fishing with you....Thank you for the yakfish 101 yesterday....when you told me about the GWS after we fished ....I knew of the dangers before entering, but I  still did as much possible to stay safe on the water regardless if there are sharks or not while we fished.....like you said yesterday clearly to me...."safety first, angling second", that said it all....we will always be in there backyard....but as long as safety comes first, everything will be okay.........I learned a lot from you, smoke on the water,krusty,fishloomis,str8ghtfishing,   about fishing safely and successfully!,Keep on Fishing!

Yeah I watched that show 1000 ways to die. died while having sex was the one i still shake my head. it's all avoidable and stupidity plays a lot of death on that show. I do agree the title of this thread is really harsh and should be changed to perhaps prepare for the worse. Yes, statistically the chances of eaten by GWS is low but to me if there are multiple attacks in or around the area that statistics just went up.

I hope to fish with you one day but not at BH   :smt001

This thread isn't too harsh at all.  This shit is real, and until you've been there you have no idea.  Thanks for bringing it back bro.....

Those who were "there" know the savage nature of the sharks at bean hollow. It's a feeding ground for the gws with all the seals that hang out at the rocks in that area. I saw, I witness and I'm not going back. Good luck for those who fish there. I'm not one to judge. We are all grown men and can make our own decisons. Enough said. I'm not one to beat a dead horse. Go get your fish and be safe.

I love the bean and I fear the bean.

Thread title isn't up for debate. Nor is the risk.

Do your thing have fun. Sharks aren't a big deal. Until they are. Hope it never happens to any one ever again. But for my first 3 or 4 years on the salt I've witnessed 2 GWS attacks. 50% were at the bean  :smt002

Thanks for bringin it back kuya Mel. Much love to Bro's who hit the bean and hit it hard! Just remember the bean tends to hit back and never when you expect it. Respect it and celebrate life!
I like to have fun.......

LIVE LIFE!!!
