Marsh, bay, gulf, all the above. Avoid getting cut or scraped by shell, barnacle, crab trap. Google vibrio and it will give more info. It's always been there and always will be. If you aren't very healthy, it's more dangerous

Practice good hygiene and stay off drugs. Especially krokodil. Google its effects at your own risk. It is a lot like vibrio.

LOL.. yeah it's out there. It's always been there and it's going to be there a lot longer than we're here... I mean a long long time.
Vibrio, or rather not getting vibrio is just about being educated, aware, and willing to take action if anything is 'off' or suspect.
Like above, bring a small bottle with diluted bleach, fresh peroxide, and or iodine. Also have a first aid kit with neosporine and bandages should you get a cut.
It's not just for waders either, plenty have gotten a prick from the horn of a shrimp and gotten vibrio in a finger and hand just from the bait bucket (another good reason to use arti's
Like above, try to know you're health condition and if you have a weakened immune system or liver disease etc. etc. then use caution and make sure you don't have exposed cuts. if you do don't chance it. Find ways to bandage it and keep it completely dry.
Finally, be willing to man up and go to the hospital if something looks off. Tell them immediately that you've been in saltwater and have them look for Vibrio / flesh eating bacteria if you have signs of an infection. Look up and read all you can about what the infections can look like.. but the main thing is...dont wait to see if it's going to get better.. That might loose you a limb or a digit or your life. It's not something to mess with. It's also not something that should stop someone from getting on the water and being educated and acting accordingly.
have fun, and be safe.

I was wiping off my kayak after sunday morning's trip and cut my finger. AHHH!! Vibrio vibrio!! I grabbed the neosporin and cleaned it. Then a few minutes later I went to get my catch out of the water and had to dunk my hand to get it. AHHH!! VIBRIO VIBRIO!!! had to clean the cut again.
Its been a few days and no sign of anything. Guess I'm gonna make it
