HARRIS COUNTY, Ga. – Two people drowned in Harris County Sunday afternoon.  Authorities said 26-year-old Jemarion Warren and Billy Joe Warren were not wearing life jackets as they were canoeing across Innsbrook Lake at Pine Mountain Club Shalet Resort on Sunday.

Officials said the pair’s canoe overturned as they were crossing the lake.

One witness said he called 911 after trying to jump in and help.

Police said the pair was canoeing across Innsbrook Lake when the canoe tipped over.

“We tried to give them paddles to grab onto, or at least grab onto the boat, and they were just panicking.  Nothing was seeming to work.  Then, all of a sudden they went under and we had just lost them,” said Jay Haygens.

Authorities said the man and his uncle could not swim well.  They were vacationing from Louisiana.
