I just purchased an annual Sac County park pass and thought I'd check out Sailor Bar for the first time. I didn't fish or yak. I left at Sunset to make sure I wasn't locked out of the park. Before I left, I saw a couple that swam across to the bluffs were still fishing there and I saw another family getting ready to launch their canoe. I assume they were going to fish on the slow moving part of the river or at the inlet.

Now I'm re-reading the rules and regs and have questions or want to confirm some things.

1) Is Sailor Bar far enough from the Nimbus hatchery to be over 250 feet away?
2) Do they actually shut the park gate after sunset?
3) Isn't it illegal to fish at night on the American river below the dam down to wherever it crosses bus 80?
4) Barbless hooks pretty much from Nimbus dam to the end of Ancil Hoffman park right?

2) Do they actually shut the park gate after sunset?
Yes Sac County Parks lock their gates at night - its usually about 1-1/2 after sunset but really depends on when they are making their rounds.

3) Isn't it illegal to fish at night on the American river below the dam down to wherever it crosses bus 80?
3.00. FISHING HOURS.
(a) Day Defined: One hour before sunrise to one
hour after sunset. Remaining hours are night.
(b) All fish may be taken day or night, except as follows:
(A) American River between Business 80 and Nimbus Dam (Sacramento Co.): Night fishing prohibited

4) Barbless hooks pretty much from Nimbus dam to the end of Ancil Hoffman park right?

NOTE- Other restrictions apply in that barbless section of river... such as single rod, weight & hook restriction, ETC. read through them and make sure you understand the other portions of the regs.

Example-
Quote
"A Second-Rod Validation is required to fish with two rods in inland waters in any sport fishery in which the regulations of the Commission provide for the taking of fish by angling, except those waters in which only artificial lures or barbless hooks may be used."
