New to Kayaking..Have experience with canoes.  Just started outfitting my Ocean Kayak Trident 13.
Launching out of 9th Street in Benicia. Its a gas..so far.

Will be casting for salmon here in a few weeks when Inland salmon opens up.

Any suggestions, tips or tricks?

welcome.. I like your screen name. My only suggestion is spend the time and effort to be prepared and don't underestimate the value of safety equipment even when fishing inland waters. I started out a canoeist in the sierras myself. Once i went yak..i never went back.

You should post a hookup once the salmon start running...

Welcome! And agreed there on the safety. I didn't start fishing on the salt out East until I had my Marine VHF and didn't try out here until I had a wetsuit.

Welcome!  I have a tip... watch the currents when the tides change.  :smt003  I've only been out of Benicia once and trying to get back to the launch from the bridge against an ebb tide kicked my butt!

Welcome, I'm a newbie too and the most important lesson I've learned thus far is getting back on the yak safely and quickly ...#1 Self rescue!

Welcome to NCKA Lox.  The only tip I can give you is stay way out of casting distance from the shore anglers.
