British kayaker Laura Kennington is attempting to become the first woman to paddle the entire 2,300 mile length of Russia’s Volga River. Laura began her journey in the little village of Volgoverhovie, the source of Europe’s longest river. Laura plans to complete the full distance of the river, starting just north-west of Moscow and ending at the Volga’s mouth in the Caspian Sea. The athlete hopes to complete the trip in about three months and is expecting to paddle for about 12 hours a day.
