Vinegar maybe? I know it will dissolve most rust from most metal and isn't too difficult to handle.

Soft toothbrush and baking soda, a little white vinegar too. I carry a separate box for lures I use and then they are the only ones I have to rinse after my trip

Does the magic eraser leave a scent on the lure? Just wondering, as I know vinegar does. Maybe best just to pick up a new lure. If it's just a little rust the baking soda works without leaving a scent
