My Cressi Gara 3000 LD fin cracked while diving a few weeks ago. This is my 5th time using it - purchased on 10.28.2014 - and it has been stored inside!

I spoke with a Cressi representative and they will will not repair or replace the fin. However, they are willing to let me purchase new fins at a discounted price. I will also have to pay for shipping charges as well...

Not really wanting to buy any new fins anytime soon, is there any way I could repair this? I was thinking maybe an epoxy, but that could be too stiff. Maybe lexel, marine goop? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

John

Not sure if making them stiffer will be a problem.

They look like a plastic? Could you try a plastic weld?

Where'd you buy them at? Looks like they have a 24 month manufacturers warranty

If I were to repair them, I would use wires to stitch up the cracks. Then cover the repair with Goop since epoxy would be too rigid. Also, drill a hole at the end of all cracks to relieve the stress.

I would post on their facebook page and see what happens

Be nice on your first FB post?   Heck I will post on their Facebook as well, if they don't take care of you that is stupid.  you didn't run them over with a truck or something yeah?

Cracked after just normal usage ? and only purchased several months ago. That is weak. I would be willing to post a negative review if you wanted.

Thanks for the suggestions. Looks like I might go with the plastic welding method followed with some goop.

As for posting on their facebook page, I'd rather not go through the hassle. I've already taken the product as a loss and will most likely not do business with them in the future.

The Cressi product manager viewed the photos and stated that the damage was due to me hitting a rock, reef or hard surface. The thing is when I've pieced all the cracks together, I can't locate any gouges or scrapes indicating something hit it. I could be wrong here, but with no physical evidence to support the crack maybe it was a stress crack?

Bad customer service will eventually be the death of the company.

Nice job Bushy.. A lot more tactful than my response would have been.
