Rolla library gets grant for summer reading program

The Rolla Public Library has received a grant in the amount of $10,000 to promote summer reading programs.

The funds will be used for the library’s 10-week summer program which includes activities for all ages.

In the 2015 fiscal year, the Missouri State Library, a division of Secretary of State Jason Kander’s office, has approved a total of 178 grant applications, distributing $1,111,720 in federal awards to libraries throughout Missouri.

The secretary of state’s literacy and educational enrichment grants are funded by the Library Services and Technology Act through the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, which is the primary source of federal support for the nation’s 122,000 libraries and 17,500 museums.
