You're killin' me SWesterlyBruddah, BEAM ME UP/Over to Santa Cruz... but it WAS sunny here (thus the hat cause of the low angle; as Gerry says, "Squinting steals your energy") on the Maine Coast last weekend... 23 degree air/36 degree water, waist high peeles... and no chilly wind do deal with; was actually quite toasty!

It's really quite warm once you get used to it.

I busted my Pleasure Point cherry today.  Privates and Sharks were flat, so hoofed it on up to Pleasure Point.  Three experienced proners and three groms with one other stand up guy.  The groms paddled for everything, caught nothing, and generally dropped in on the experienced guys, but left after about 30 minutes.

One proner was pretty friendly, asked me if I was getting it out there, he noticed I stayed out of their way and generally just rode the sneak bys, left overs and white waters.

Eventually just two proners, one other SUP and me.  It was nice.  Shoaling is great at second break (?) area, longer rides, more octane energy to the waves.  Wave direction was stronger West with wrap around and a weaker southwesterly.

Saw a kid trying to SUP on what looked like a Jimmy Lewis pointy nose performance prone board at Sharks.  Lots of rocker.  He had a hell of a time floundering around on it.  I asked him how wide, he said 22 inches (?).  Guess he needed somebody to help him more with his SUP shopping. He wasn't real large but the board looked like it could barely float him.  He fell off knee paddling, reminded me of my initial Prowave experience.

I would improve faster with the quality of rides if I could spend more time at Pleasure Point, I might start tempting the angry proner gods and going up there more often.  If they cuss me out, I will just hoof it back to Sharks.

The better the waves, the more the angry proner gods are out there.

  It all sorts itself out.

I also tried out the Hook, which was deserted, and caught a couple of mushers for the 41st overlook peanut gallery (of which I am a frequent member).

Tide was about 2.5 ft, but you really have to get your turn and go lateral at the Hook, or you get reefed real fast going straight in.
