The Yakima track rack factory installed on a snugtop pickup shell. Is this system up to carrying a pair of 60-70 lb. yaks? Anyone suffer a failure of a Yakima rack? Thanks

I have one on top of my Ford F250 camper shell. I usually carry my Revo and an Outback on top with no problem.

I've had my revo and my cuda on my tundra.
Those racks are solid, I think it's more about what the shell can carry.
Revo 13
Jackson cuda 14.

I have them on my truck shell also; have had no problems carrying a kayak and an 150lb tent on the rack.

But it will also depend on the installation method & placement of the track; the fiberglass top should be capable of carry a significant amount of wieght.... check with the manufacturere to be sure....

have them on a station wagon (for 11 years), top of pickup (9 years) and top of camper trailer (3 years), I love them.  I have gone very fast with kayaks, bikes, canoe, rocket box and had no problems.
I dont drive slow ;)

The racks are rated for 140 lbs. maximum but the rating is a conservative one. I have a Yakima trailer with Yakima bars and cradles that I tow and a Thule setup on my Snugtop cap. I much prefer the Thule square bars (no problems with rotating cradles) and the Thule components are less expensive than the comparable ones from Yakima. Thule also has the Hullavator which is great if you have a tall roof and a heavy kayak.

Snugtop says most of their caps can carry "approximately 150-175 lbs". One model, the Outback, is reinforced and tested to carry 500 lbs. The comments were helpful, thanks.
