I have recently came across this product - Ergonomic Paddle System (EPS) Pro Handle Grip.

It seems to provide a "retrofit" option for the regular straight paddle shafts to work on the similar "concept" as the Werner Bent Shaft.

Has anyone tried it or know about it ??

Thx... Ren

After about paddling on a Harbor for about 1:30 hrs, and about 2,5 miles ... I do not feel I would recommend it.
Maybe it would be a matter of getting used to it...
But this is what I took notice:

Pros:
The "catch and power" phases do get better... More reach (about 2+ inches) and more "power" when puling yourself forward. Also, as the awkward wrist position is now when the paddle is getting closer to your body, it forces you to start the "exit/release" as soon as the paddle reaches your feet.
But then that was IT !

Cons:
The "exit/release" does not work well. The recovery is ODD ... like you have to drop your upper hand much more than used to, otherwise the blade catches on the water during the recovery.
Maybe if I “shorten” the paddle, it would feel easier the release and recovery. But it would then eliminate the “Pro” listed above for the “more reach”.
Because it gives more “power” on the pull, one may get lazy and start using the power of the lower arm to pull ...instead of using the body’s “core” muscles to do the work.
Although the EPS Handel is very Light, it still makes the paddle feel “out of balance”. I was not able to transition from one side to the other as fast as I do without it.

It definitely has its uses... It maybe would work well for “cruising” for a long while, specially to people that may have “back” issues and cannot bend too much during the strokes..as you can utilize your lower arm power more comfortable.
But the few benefits do not outweigh the "too many things" to Adapt !

The added weight alone is enough to suggest that this contraption be dismissed out of hand... ;D

When you zoom in, it looks really interesting..
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.
