holly beach texas update

Post by Texas_troutkiller13 »

Hey guys it's been a while since I have posted something here, but I do have great news!! My buddy and I went out to holly beach on Tuesday 1/27/2015 and had a great time out there. We each caught and lost a bunch of redfish and a few trout all in all it was a very successful day. The color that worked best was the red a white hogie. Hope you guys have a great time out on the water and be safe. Tight lines!

@yak_addiction we were fishing by redfish cove or air port cove which ever you want to call it. We just stayed in that general area and drifted west. We must have been in about only 18" of water. There was another yaker next to us and he was using a maroon and black jackson cuda 12. There was about two of us there plus the other yaker on the Jackson. We saw several yakers closer to the islands. How did it go for you guys?

Nice report and fish.Caught some nice trout with the red and white. Have a buddy who only fishes with red and white and catches everytime. Look in his tackle bag and that's the only color you see.

good stuff, I got skunked at the zapata boat ramp today but I wasn't really trying too hard. Still brainstorming on where to go tomorrow and Monday. The road just passed the shrimp boat basin after the port is passable now so I might check out the channel tomorrow.

How do you usually fish for flounder in the holly beach area? I have never really had much luck with them.

There are about 2-3 sand bars ranging from far south of the big island to just east of it that hold some flatties. Also, the smallest of the 3 islands has a sandy bottom east to north in that section. I haven't pulled any flatties, but i have seen them and had friends catch a few. Hope this helps.
