Has anyone surfed the 10'10 Naish Nalu or a 10'6 C4 Waterman DaBeachboy? Heard the Nalu is a great flat water board, just want to know how you surf it? I know you probably can't turn on the rails....do you drop knee and pivot? Also, any feedback on the DaBeachboy would be appreciated. Looking for an all rounder. Thanx
Hey DNeck,
The 10'10" actually surf's pretty well. It does have some pretty aggressive bottom shaping which helps a lot for directional stability and straighter outline in the mid rails for tracking, but there is also plenty of tail lift. I wouldn't recommend it for serious surfing, but for small days and gliding on long bay rides the board is great. If you are looking more surfability I would suggest the 10' Mana or if size is your need the 11' soft top rips. Another board not to over look with plenty of stability and really fun in the waves is the ODYSSEUS. this board is crazy fun in small surf and paddles really well also.
Hope this helps a bit,
Ride safe,
JB
I've surfed the 10'10" Nalu and it surprised me how well it went.. You can feel the channels working.. You need to step back and turn more off the tail and it doesn't turn as well as the Mana's but it paddles flat water noticably better than the Mana..
Hey DNeck,
My weight is 81kgs, been surfing longboard and short for 30 years, among my quiver is a 2015 10'6 Nalu.
Now to answer your question; I'm not sure about the 10'10 but if its anything like the 10'6 it will go insane, ride it like a high performance long board, draw out your turns or set up for a nose ride, it does it all, I've had it in knee high onshore slop too head high off shore beach breaks, this board only gets better, you will have no regrets. Fin set up standard Naish 2 + 1.
Stay stoked
Hi DNeck,
I too surf my 10'6" Nalu.
I'm 75kgs and my surfing is average. I'm pretty sure the Nalu can make me look better than my abilities.
I could surf something smaller, but the 10 6 was my first board, and I know I'm going to have a great time on it no matter what the conditions.
Having said that, and with reference to your question, I did surf a 10 10 earlier this year.
It does surf well, but not nearly as lively as the 10 6. It's a big board...
I think you could mount a cup of tea on the foredeck and manage to take a sip every now and then
Yeah heard you can rip on the 10'6 Nalu. I've never been on an SUP. . (Got injured can't get prone on a board any more) . Surfed 9'0 Walden Magics for years. My last board was a 9'6 Hap Jacobs Nose Rider.(loved that board) I think I'm going to start a quiver of SUP's.A flat water, small wave board. And something for pure surf (When I get my surf legs back)....Peace brah
I'm 88kg. Should float me fine.10'6 Nalu was your first board? Had you surfed before? Might not be a bad idea for me. As I've heard that you can progress pretty quick on an sup

DNeck,
I come from a sailing background, but took up surfing (a mal) about 10 years ago.
I'm an absolute **** surfer (prone), and didn't have the time or fitness to get better at it.
Last surfed on holiday at Byron Bay 2 years ago, and stuffed my dodgy back completely. Decided the surfing had to go.
Took up SUPing as a result.
Bought the Nalu 10 6 as an all rounder last year, and still have it.
Have now got 5 boards to cope with family paddling, surfing, flat water training, downwinding.
It's strangley addictive this thing...
By chance I paddled my mal yesterday as we had it down the beach for the kids to mess around on.
After paddling it for 5 minutes I thought "what was I thinking when I bought this thing?"
Thankfully made it back to the beach before my back blew up again
Surfed 9'0 Walden Magics for years.
Walden Magics are here, now, in SUP form.
Hey DNeck. The 10'10" Nalu was my first sup that i ventured out in the surf on. I probably took it out on bigger stuff than it was designed for, and it's straight down the line speed surprised me (and others) more than once. Really have to stand on it's tail to turn it. I fished off it and have had 2 children, a dog and an esky on it more than once. I sadly had to sell it to buy my 10'6", which i have had more surfing fun on than any other board to date. It's acceleration on
a big peak is jaw dropping at times.
So it looks like I'm going to start out on the 10'10.Nalu. I think it will suit me getting started. Go to the 10'6 Nalu or 10'Mana. I think once I'm into it I'll get chances to ride some more "surfy" boards making new mates in the line up.Thanx for the help DNeck
