Pretty happy with the installation of my Raymarine Dragonfly 7 on my Hobie Revolution 13.

It comes with only 3 command buttons. Its easier to figure out than a new cell phone.

The unit has only one combined transducer and power cable that goes into a locking collar.  It comes with a cover to protect the pins during non use.  The cradle has a lock,  or you can replace it with a Thule lock for extra protection.  Ram 1.5 inch ball provides secure mounting.

The transducer fits nicely inside the Hobie Transducer cover after cutting down and grinding 2 plastic posts.

I have the Gold Chart bundle.  Detail could be better but thats an upgrade to a Navionics Update Chip at a future time.

Brightness and detail is amazing.

That looks slick. Clean and professional.  I am interested in the high frequency DS and CHIRP type sonars, but primarily fish in the ocean.  I have heard these higher frequency units don't perform quite as well in a deep "cluttered" ocean environment. What is your opinion of this? It would be cool to see some screen shots of the unit working in 80 or 90 or more feet of ocean water.

The high-freq/structure scan or side-scan imaging is designed for shallower water applications, typically.  I am able to pick up a bottom reading around 100' but the imaging is best in shallower water; I went quite a bit deeper in freshwater.  Lots of other factors go into this as well such as fresh vs salt, water clarity, boat speed, installation technique, etc...

Come test one out at the LRC!

The CHIRP will go way deeper than anyone would ever want to fish from a yak.

It works great here's my first trip out at SWS (I had a 5 inch then, got a 7 now) last May.  I found school fish marks, mainly large Olives between 70 to 120 feet.  That day I could almost predict when I will get bit.
Reef structure readings are awesome too!  The readings should even be better now with the transducer outside.  With my older Revo I did a water bath method inside the hull.

Sorry Its gone   :smt001

Hodges Marine has the best prices.  When funds are available I will get a Navionics Update Chip.  You can update the factory Gold Chip to get more detail.

I had a dragon fly, it has nice picture easy to use best I seen to date,
But after a month it died on a fishing tip. Took it back and used the money on a garmin. Picture is a little smaller but I see things in the garmin I never seen before I can see my jig in hunderd feet of water.
Much better unit for a little more money. Had a  5 first but sold it to by a unit with a GPS and charts.

I just switched to LiPo batteries:

2 pack:
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=18631

And use this charger:
http://www.amazon.com/Genuine-SKYRC-Power-6Amps-50Watts/dp/B00ND7J38C

The Dragonfly 7 has a power consumption of 8 W at full brightness. I was lucky to get 6 hours out of my 12v 9am lead acid battery.  With the Lipo batteries I can get an average of 13.5 hours.  I've fielded tested it twice.  One trip was 8 hours OTW.  It run all day like a charm.  My buddy Lucky 13 who is an electrical guru built the LiPo battery pack for me.
