Was lucky enough to win a YakAttack Flag from AOTY in 2012, and have rocked it every time I go out.  It's really quite a well thought out product and I like it a lot.  I also love the flag that Joe made for me, that slips over my rod.  But I take that one down as soon as I start using the rod  :smt044

I use this one http://www.kayakfishinggear.com/products/be-seen-safety-flag-with-pole  3 piece jointed shock corded pole.

At a very lumpy gray Albion a few years back ChuckE commented that I was easy to spot at a distance. I always use it.

It makes it easier for my team members to spot me at tournaments without having to radio 'where you at?'

Great thread. I have the flag project on the list and there it has sat, with so many others. Lame.
ORCfest required them and I thought it was great! Especially in the conditions we had.
This thread got me looking back at those photos and I wanted to share Scott's "flag".
The first word in functional is fun.

Here it is again standing tall next to Allen's under performing commercial flag.

It really doesn't take much to hide a kayak in open water. Without a flag I just have to hope that I am visible when the boater is scanning in my direction. The flag above the swell is constant.

I've been bumped by PB's while running a 16' sail.

Here's the flag I whipped up over the weekend (with a little sewing machine help from my GF). I had a sturdy old spinning rod with a broken tip sitting in the garage, so I repurposed it as a 2-piece flag pole. I just stripped off all but one guide (the last guide will be used to tie the flag to the pole so it doesn't slide off). Jo-Ann Fabrics had the neon orange cloth (seems to be the same material used for safety vests) and the iron-on strips of hi-vis reflective tape.

It stands about 6 feet tall and should be plenty visible.

That fish flag is pretty awesome. Hard to beat.
