Hello all and a big thanks to the webmaster, hosts, mods and staff for putting this site up and maintaining it.

First off, I am not quite in your neighborhood but reside a couple of states to the east in the high mountain desert climate of Utah. Am an Army Brat by upbringing so SoCal was a childhood residence and Crescent City is a favorite vacation place.

Currently, I am on my 3rd yak, an Ocean Kayak after selling both of my Cobras. I am shopping for another  and this time most likely a pedal model. Either a Mirage drive or a Propel model. So I joined up here and another site back east to see what info I could glean to assist my purchasing decision.

Here in Utah, I yak fish for the largest species present...the lowly and very underestimated and never appreciated Carp. My largest capture was an IGFA world record .....for nearly a month during which time it was broken twice during the registration process. Grrrr... Oh well it's about the fishing anyway.

I also fish in Alaska annually (16 consecutive trips) for salmon, rockfish and halibut and just this year now have an Ocean Kayak stored there on the island where I fish.
I will probably be more of a reader/lurker just gathering intel on your adventures with the next yak purchase in mind. Leaning towards a Hobie OB atm.

So that about does it.

Tight lines and best fishes!

Steve

Before you ask....yes, that's me in the avatar pic....the one on the right in the yellow shirt.

The other? 7 foot , 200+#, Alligator Gar caught in Texas. We were both resting in the river after the rod and reel tug of war. I won, she got to swim away for a rematch some day.

Welcome to NCKA Steve.  I used to catch them Gars back when I lived in Texas.  Love the way they fight!
