Just joined the forum as well and am looking forward to learning more about Kayak fishing.  I took my 14' tarpon for a maiden voyage this weekend in Monterey Bay and had a fantastic experience.  I met a very nice guy named Isi or Iso (sp?) from San Jose at the beach who took me under his wing and helped me with everything from launching in the waves to fishing techniques.  He told me about this forum and if anyone out there knows him please give him a big thanks from me.  He went above and beyond to teach me about the sport and I thought it was super cool.  I have surfed, fly-fished, free-dove, etc. and I have never met a nicer group of folks than the sea kayakers last weekend.  Felt very much like everyone had your back which put me at ease...in any event, he put me several fish including the keeper ling cod that is now my profile pic.  First ling, first kayak trip, and it could not have been better.  I am hooked.
