Laird logging at Malibu. No leggie ,no deckgrip.Just cruisin.
That's one rather large sup, but it looks more like a mal. Must be 11'0" but looks pretty narrow for the size of it.
was that Dave Kalama with him?
Not sure if it was Dave Kalama ,I thought that as well ,from other pics I have seen of him.I think board was at least 11' maybe 12'.Some one suggested they were using tandem surfboards ,that makes sense, width etc.
Aahhhh...malibu. those boards do look like big tandem mals and I agree that dave Kalama is probably cruising there with laird. Nice vid representing how it started, experimenting and having fun. Mr H makes it look sooo easy.....but thats what happens when your mum gives birth to you in a salt water tank....
Ha... it looked like they were just surfing..... with a paddle......
Isn't that what sup is?

That's really all it is. An oversized longboard/mal. To be honest It's much smaller than a lot of the gargantuan sized cruiser/flat water SUP available nowadays. Here in the States, many SUPs are classified as "vessels" but the United States Coast Guard. This one Lard is using back in 2002 would still be small enough just to be considered a surfboard.
