Just wondering if anyone is experiencing sever late season spring like allergies?

Typically I suffer really bad in the spring for a few months, then its over. This year I am having awful allergies since spring? Like really bad. Ive had allergies my whole life, but NEVER THIS late into the season.

Is it drought related? Anyone feeling the same?

More alarming, is my daughter Hailey is developing the "cough" we have batteled the last few years, ultimateley that cough landed her in the PICU at Lucille Packards childrens hospital up a Stanford, where as some of you know, she became very ill clinging to life.

Needless to say we are worried, previously she was on no meds, now shes on 2 different inhalers, singular, and Allegra as needed. The cough has been gone since recovery with the aid of these meds. Its now seems to be coming back. We also tested free and clear of Cystic Fibrosis, so this is not a factor.

Have you allergy people or your friends, family or kids been affected more than usual this late in the season? Were in Santa Cruz, if that makes any difference.

We have a pulmonology  appointment monday for Hailey up at Stanford.

Just hoping to get some insight from others.

THANKS!

I typically don't get  allergies but have been last few months badly.
And I'm in Sacramento. They are really bad in the Delta region working or fishing.

Hope your daughter gets better soon.
Matt

We've been lucky.   Lots of runny noses, but no asthma attacks.

Full house clean has been helping.

I'm experiencing much of the same lately.  I think its the lack of rain.

Brent, hoping the best for your daughter

Thinking more about this and some things popped into my mind.  As the weather cools, our AC hasn't been running as much.  We have a "fancy" filter on our central air/heat.  So the filter hasn't been doing its thing as much.  I noticed the boy having more troubles with allergies, so I spent a whole day completely cleaning the house.  Dust down everything thoroughly.  Vacuum everything thoroughly with a HEPA enabled vacuum.  Do about 3X the amount of vacuum strokes.  Don't forget under furniture and beds.  If there is a particular carpet/rug your kids play on a lot, steam clean it.  Or steam clean everything if you have the time.  And the big one, wash all bedding, including pillows, comforters, and mattress pads in hot water.  Run stuffed animals through the washer too.

In our case, doing all of the above made a big difference.

Work party at Brents!

I usually get severe springtime allergy and a milder November attack.  But so far no signs of early fall symptoms.  I'm on my regular schedule I guess. :smt012

This has been my worst year in the last 15 for my asthma. I had to go on advair.  Air quality and pollen counts have been lower than average and the afternoon delta winds aren't blowing this year. Strange year in deed.

I run a hepa in my bedroom and high efficiency air filters in the central.  Often I run the central 1-2 hours a day and while cleaning.

Wishing the best for your girl.

Brent,

I have a Holmes HAP8613-U filter unit that is a true HEPA filter and good for a small room, up to 116 sq ft..  You're welcome to it.  We haven't used it in 3 years once we got the central filter system.  It is a little on the loud side, but it gets the job done.

Thanks for all the great feedback guys..

Shes still coughing, and maybe getting sick, watching closely. Shes in good spirits though.

Allen, YES, ill take it..we have three of them, but could use another to help reduce the smell of our recent disaster. http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=59076.0
