Hi Guys,

I got my eye on a Daiwa Lexa LEXA400HS-P.  Went out to TC with my buddy P-Sherman last Sunday.  Fishing was awesome.

When I got back to the beach one of rods was missing (Terramar WC with a Curado 300 EJ).  It had a pool noodle on it so I went back out looking for it.  Put the Raymarine on Chart mode and followed my track to my last hook up.  I looked and looked for nothing.

Any reviews on the Lexa 400 P would be appreciated.  I plan to use to bottom fishing and salmon trolling.  I already own a Lexa 300 and really like it but not sure if the 400 is too big.

Thanks,

Mel

dude, that sucks losing a rod.  i love my Lexa 300.  Looked into a 400 at a store, but it looks big (like a 300 on steroids).  How about those NaCl reels?

on the bright side, at least you got a good catch of fish.

-Amos ....oops just saw you probably meant the NaCl. If you go with the LEXA 400 lemme know what you think, it is kinda big.

Sorry about your lost set-up, Mel. We kept our eyes open down at Fort Ross, but didn't see anything.

I ruled out the Curado 300, I like the clicker on the star drag on the Lexa.  Can't seem fine tune the Curado drag setting even with upgraded Carbontex washers.

Sorry to hear about the lost mel, I know how that fills. I have the lexa 300hs and love it..its works great for salmon and rockfish and holds plenty of my 65lb. Powerpro braid.

For inshore rockfish the 200 would suffice.

I have the Lexa 300 and like it for tossing swim baits. My beef with the Lexa is the disengaged drive and the lack of a clicker. I use the line out clicker when trolling and fishing multiple rods. In the $1-200 range, I like the tekota or saltist on on the higher end and Cardiff on the low end. In the $2-300 range penn 975, daiwa Luna, revo toro are all good. And if you want to break the bank, get a Calcutta.

Not to thread jack but if your rod was leashed you would still have it. Sorry about the loss.

I recommend an Abu Garcia Record 5600 or 6600. Or if you can find 'em - the Record 50 or 60.

I doubt I'll ever buy any other reel for what I do here, or pretty much anywhere else.

I have a pile of malfunctioning Revo Toros...
