Sauk Rapids firefighters rescue kayaker from river

The Sauk Rapids Fire Department rescued a kayaker from the Mississippi River at about 1:20 p.m. Monday.

The man in a one-person kayak was stranded on the rapids about a half-mile south of the Sauk Rapids Bridge.

His boat had taken on water. A fire department boat crew pulled the kayak out of the water from Sauk Rapids Lions Sunset Park

The man appeared unharmed but was checked out by an ambulance crew.
