Hobie warranty and FTU service

Post by mpg2yahoo »

Last time I went to Surfside to do my first BTB adventure I noticed a small crack under the back base of my vantage seat on my Hobie Pro Angler 14.

I started looking for my serial number and called FTU to ask how to make a claim on the yak. Camille Null was on top of things keeping me informed of the progress.

Sad part was that I had to return my old 2013 hull so they could cut the area to be sent to Hobie for research. I guess I'm a power user and a bit on the heavy side, going out at least once or twice a week for 4-12 hrs at a time.

I'm waiting for a new hull on the next 10 days or so. Appreciate FTU's diligence and certainly will continue to get my kayak gear from them. Excellent Hobie warranty.

Camille is top notch...she took time to help me get my vantage seat warranty done. Pretty much did all the leg work for me. I also bought my first cuda14 from them. Todd rigged it for me and took the time to explain and answer the hundred questions I had when I was a newb. I haven't been there in a while but if I need something I wouldn't hesitate to go back. Good luck with your PA.

The guy at FTU actually told me about your story when I was buying my Hobie PA 14... I was debating on new or used and that story talked me into a new one due to the three year warranty.

Camille is great to work with when dealing with kayak issues and so was Todd. Unfortunately, Todd got a job at a refinery and is no longer there. The remaining kayak staff at the Fuqua location wasn't worth a flip when I took my wife's Tarpon 120 in to get the seat repaired. All the push pin grommets had stripped out and they acted like they didn't even want to mess with it.

Ended up taking it across town to ACK, it took them all of 10, maybe 15 minutes to replace all the grommets and have me on my way.
