The salt air is taking it's toll on my old Willys. Need to get some rust spots cut out and repaired. Any help or advise is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Ben

Is that a WWll Willys MB Jeep?  I see the tool indentations below the driver's door.  Cool Jeep!

Thanks! This is a 1943 MB. The photo with Ben "Guitarzan" and Joel "Mooch" was taken at Vets park where quite a few from NCKA stay for the MBK derby.

brings tears to my eyes...my late brother pulled a 50's willy very much like that...cj5???(sp) out of an old barn...I lived with him in upstate n.y in the late 90's and we had two summers together driving that willy to lakes to cliff dive-bars to drink and get near killed- long summer nights driving around in shorts freezing and smiling --watching hudson river sunsets and ....flat four engine barley doing 45 mph...cars on windy double yellow backroads stacked behind us like daytona ready to try a death pass.....

That jeep brought us together on long weekend drives to no where after 20 years apart...he passed not to long back...we would talk on the phone about the willy's...he gave it some high school kid for a project for auto shop...he was good to folks like that

you must be great guy to own such a cool jeep...we would would have folks waving and honking where ever we went....what a cool ride

My neighbor in Marina rebuilds all types of WW2 vehicles and such. Send me a pm if interested.

If the body is beyond repair there are reproduction parts for the Willys MB and Ford GPW WWll Jeeps, you can get anything from an entire tub to fenders.  I always wanted a flat fender Jeep but I am too tall to fit in them so I have had a CJ7 since the early 80's.

Thank you very much for this info. I see I can order the entire panel to replace the old one for $125 bucks. I think that's the way to go. I'll have to look further into this. Thanks again for your advise...

I would love to give you a hand of you need it Ben. I'm not a body guy but I have done some work on a 48 Willys that turned out pretty decent. I'm kinda far from you but we could set up a day and I could bring a welder down.

Have an almost identical one sitting at my place waiting to be restored too.  Came from Hunter Liggett area.  Belonged to a close froend of my dad.  They would blast around that area when they all worked for the Forrest Service.  Those darn things rust thru pretty easy for some reason.

A number of companies sell fiberglass body parts for these vehicles. I had 3 Willys station wagons and unfortunately no such replacement parts existed. There is a reason that people like to buy old vehicles from people in places like Arizona with no salt on the road or in the air. Liberal use of a hard wax and even clear laquer will help protect the vehicle from the salt laden fog as will a car cover (which is on all my cars and truck).

Greatly appreciate all the replies and info. I've placed an order for some new body parts that can replace the old rusty ones. I'll keep you all informed of the progress..

Thanks again
Ben
