River Nene - Ringstead to Thrapston

<body> <h1><img src='http://playak.com/images/topics/newswatch.png' align='left'><a href='http://www.songofthepaddle.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?38985-River-Nene-Ringstead-to-Thrapston&goto=newpost'>River Nene - Ringstead to Thrapston</a></h1> <p>A pleasant Sunday morning tootle with Neil. & Terry.Young from SotP starting at Willy Watt's marina at Ringstead It looked like the recent floods had been altogether too much for these boats But even in winter garb the river is a better place to be than Tescos with Mrs Patterdale A planning application was put in to fell tese trees and install another marina - thankfully the recession put paid to that bit of barbarism - I love this line of trees Approaching the village of Woodford Obviously 14th century church builders had enough sense to put it just above the flood plain Swift coffee stop at the weir into Woodford backwater And time to contemplate three logs being recirculated Woodford backwater with residents Denford weir.......a family out for a walk decided to stop and cheer noisily for a capsize.........they were gracious enough to applaud a dry descent! Temptation is a terrible thing but Terry had a go as well despite promising Mrs Terry he wouldn't do anything silly to aggravate a bad back The weir drops into a small backwater that brings you out next to Denford Lock - is it just me or do others see industrial beauty in these guillotine gates? The old bridge by Mill Marina - no longer a marina but once Northamptonshire's premier holiday destination And finally to Nine Arches Bridge at Thrapston with the sun still shining and the finish of another Nene mission.
