Recreational Barrel Works Announces New Canoe Packs For 2024

Recreational Barrel Works has taken the wraps off some new gear that they have been working on for 2024.

Coureur 2-Part Canoe Pack (Heritage Series)

Part of the Heritage line of packs the Coureur Canoe Pack – Single (52L) is a rectangular shaped pack that sits low in your canoe. This pack is excellent as a personal gear pack for those attending canoe tripping camps or paddlers who are looking for a separate pack for group gear, personal gear or even a food pack that will shrink down as the trip progresses.

The Coureur Canoe Pack is ready for you to use it in the way that suites your portaging style best. Carry it with just the simple Tumpline or the Super Tump. Or just toss it on top of another pack or barrel you are portaging.

Voyageur Canoe Pack (Heritage Series)

Part of the Heritage line of packs and inspired by those who prefer traditional portage packs and wanigans in the backcountry, the Voyageur Canoe Pack is a large volume pack (120L) rectangular shaped pack but horizontally oriented and perfectly shaped to sit low in the canoe. This style of pack was often carried with just a tumpline, but they’ve added modular shoulder straps to help carry this pack.

Super Tump

For those who love a tumpline, RBW has just upped the game with the Super Tump. A wider and longer head pad with a soft fleece side is the most comfortable tumpline available. Portage your canoe barrel or canoe pack with the added efficiency of a tumpline. A tumpline transfers weight from the load directly to your forehead and down your spine relieving load pressure from your shoulder-straps. The Indigenous peoples and voyageurs used to only use a tumpline to carry their loads. Those who love the tumpline swear by it.

The Super Tump is designed so you can add it or remove it from your barrel harness or canoe pack. Unique design allows for adjustment while you are wearing it to get the right length for comfort while carrying your portage load.

Limited quantities available at the Toronto Outdoor Adventure Show and Canoecopia. Ordering from this and other locations will start mid-March.
