Nice to finally take the leap.  I know a few of you guys here I am sure... more than a few who motivated me to get a Yak and get going!

First day out bagged a salmon in the Benicia Bay.  Looking forward to many adventures to come!

That is an impressive first time. What’s next, WSB, halibut, sturgeon, BFT, other?
Please don't spoil my day, I'm miles away...

Fishing has been so slow from the shore this year, and two bad years of salmon as well.  I think that was a blessing in disguise actually.  It was the motivation I needed to take the leap from shore into the yak.  I am a pretty decent fisherman from shore, so a lot of that knowledge transfers over.  I know what salmon like, so not hard to figure out a set up trolling.  Inside the Carquinez I can use two rods, so doubling my chances right there made sense to take advantage of that.  I am very happy with the Hobie Passport.  Very light and easy to get around. Very stable... and I am somewhat of a minimalist, hence the yak.  I also like the quiet stealthy nature of the yak.  No motor... and no exhaust fumes. I was really surprised how efficient the pedal drive actually is.  I think it is less effort to go travel a mile on flat water than it would be walking.  I don't even have the turbo fins... so not sure I will need them unless I spend a lot of time in the ocean.... out the gate etc.  The exercise is good as well.  Very relaxing and nice being out there.

Looking forward to doing some crabbing here soon.  I have some ideas on that I am excited to experiment with as well.

Get the turbo fins, you will enjoy it even more.  I dont even know why they make standard fins, turbo is the way to go!
