When wildlife officers inquired about the contents of the squirt bottles, Hornbaker first said he was using “compressed water” but later he said it was an isopropyl alcohol solution.

Hard to understand why this could have taken so long, especially when he was obviously making stuff up from the start...
Please don't spoil my day, I'm miles away...

As a PhD in chemistry, I would just like to say that "compressed water" is not a thing

Education is important but fishing is importanter.

I suspect the officers laughed at that claim, and that's probably why he changed it to rubbing alcohol.

But isn't states of matter a physics thing?   :smt006

And yes, compressed water is a thing, just not at the pressures generated by a plastic bottle.

Water compression
The answer is yes, You can compress water, or almost any material. However, it requires a great deal of pressure to accomplish a little compression. ... The water at the bottom of the ocean is compressed by the weight of the water above it all the way to the surface, and is more dense than the water at the surface.

per a simple search on the internet; which we all know is 100% accurate  :smt044

Great, I just wasted half an hour watching videos of some geeks destroying stuff with a waterjet.

Yeah you're totally right, it is technically compressible and will do so a mile below the surface.

That said, under normal conditions it's typically considered incompressible for whatever reason. I'd guess it's more to do with engineering than physics or chem (i.e. Taylor series are short).
