Got this one in MX last week.  Is it an African pompano, or a Threadfin Jack?

Definitely not a pompano

Looks more like a threadfin
Did the dorsal fin have the same thread like tip as the anal fin?

Can't tell from the pic.

There are so many different species down there. It seems that I see several new species of fish every time I'm down there.

According to your link they are suppose to be good eating. Did you like it?

It certainly has the characteristics of a jack! I would put my money on that!

Looks like a speared fish to me.
Warning! Retiree; Knows it all and has plenty of time to tell you about it.
