LA JOLLA, California - Some of the world's top StandUp Paddle National Teams have confirmed their participation in the Surf City El Salvador ISA World SUP and Paddleboard Championship (WSUPPC) to take place Nov 23 - Dec 1 at El Sunzal. Among the teams already confirmed are three of the top four from the 2018 edition of the event: USA (Silver), France (Bronze), and Spain (Copper). Other nations confirmed at this early stage include Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, Denmark, El Salvador, England, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Tahiti, and Wales. Full team announcements will be made ahead of the event next month.

The WSUPPC has been the undisputed World Championship for StandUp Paddle since the event's inception in 2012, crowning annual Gold Medalists across the disciplines of SUP Racing, SUP Surfing, and Paddleboard. Team USA's four-time individual ISA SUP Racing Gold Medalist and Pan Am Silver Medalist, Candice Appleby said:

"I'm so excited to visit El Salvador for the first time this year at the ISA World Championships. I made a great friend from El Salvador who was also competing at the Pan-American games in Peru, so it will be great to see her home country and celebrate the international diversity of our sport. I'm really looking forward to exploring a new country and its culture, while representing the United States of America. I'm still recovering from breaking my finger in August and wasn't necessarily planning on getting back into competition so soon, but I would never miss an ISA World Championship and the opportunity to represent my country. It is truly an honor to be a part of this prestigious event and I wear the USA flag proudly."

Team Denmark's five-time SUP Racing ISA Gold Medalist Casper Steinfath said, "I am very excited for the upcoming ISA Worlds in El Salvador. This ISA event has been instrumental as a launching pad for my career as an athlete and I am happy to see it continue to provide opportunities for SUP athletes around the world. The waves of El Salvador are definitely world class and I am especially excited for what could be an epic Technical Race course."

Team Brazil's 2018 ISA SUP Long Distance Race Bronze Medalist and Pan Am Silver Medalist, Vinnicius Martins, said, "It's incredible to know that the ISA World SUP and Paddleboard Championship is going to happen in El Salvador. For me it was a great surprise since I was already planning a surf trip there this November. Conditions are going to be epic and the vibes will be great with paddlesurfers from all over."

ISA President Fernando Aguerre said:

"The ISA has a long history of uniting the world's best StandUp Paddle and Paddleboard athletes. In the spirit of national pride we've been crowning World Champions in the disciplines since 2012 and will continue to do so this year in El Salvador. The best athletes will be present to show the youthful, high-performance qualities that allowed us to guide this sport into the sports Program of the Pan American Games and hopefully one day the Olympic Games."
