Hey Everyone,

I am excited to join the group and learn more about kayak fishing!

I bought my first kayak and moved to Pacifica about a year ago. I had a couple questions for you guys:

1) Where do you guys launch and fish out of Pacifica? I have seen a few of you guys driving around Pacifica so wanted to see if you had any tips.

2) My kayak is an older 18ft Hobie that I think Hamachi John used to own (since it has his decal on it). I want to install a fish finder. What recommendations do you guys have for a fish finder that is fairly easy to install?

Thanks everyone, I am excited to start fishing more!

Chris

Welcome aboard Chris  :smt006  I am sure someone her will chime in to give inputs on your questions.  In the mean time you can try the search box on top right corner for what you're looking for.

Go to either Linda Mar, Rockaway, or HMB in the mornings (to watch the launch) or early afternoon (landings) to meet the guys/gals.  Pacifica is still popular right now because of the salmon bite.  Folks are out there nearly every day

I fish in Pacifica a lot, and down the coast a bit. Rockaway/Linda Mar, you'll meet a lot of people fishing out of kayaks there. I'de follow up with Darius on a hookup. If you're ever able to fish Sundays/Mondays I'll eventually hook up with you, I'm sure.

Welcome Chris - I'm just up the road from you in the outer sunset.

As others said - look to the south corners of Rockaway and Linda Mar (by the boat docks) for local launches. By the kayak rental or where the old pier used to be (how's that for directions for a newbie) at Pillar Point Harbor in El Granada for easy launches out to Half Moon Bay (HMB).

Cheers,
Brad

Which one is easy to launch? Linda Mar or Rockaway.

Its just that slope, especially when you have an AI.

LM is easier if you're toting all your AI gear.  LM is flat but has a bunch of rocks as you enter the beach from the parking lot.  Not a big deal if you stay on the trail and be mindful of where your wheels are rolling... plus, no hill to deal with    :smt006

I haven't launched at LM yet, but the little hill at rockaway is easy with the big blow up wheeleez, I can definitely see it being a bitch without though.  every time I've gone there though it's such a simple launch nice and easy on the south end of the beach.
