Anyone have any information, articles or web sites showing build it yourself livewells? I've done a few searches on google and youtube but haven't found anything that looks reliable.

Not sure if you can access this board yet, but here’s one:

I made one based on this with a few little tweaks of my own.

I just bought the tsunami, the drybox, and the vault. Looking forward to putting it together, will post pics. Does anyone know how to run the 12v pump at 6v, i'm terrible with electronics.

Just wire it straight. I think the pump recommends having a fuse. Don’t forget a switch.

Hobie uses a 6v battery to reduce the flow.  Not sure they are modifying the pump.

2 ways to do that.
- a step down
- 6v battery

I see, using a 6v battery means I will be running the pump at 6v, duh. My next 2 questions are how did Krusty attach the the drybox and rod holders to the livewell itself (I would think drilling into livewell wouldn't be a good idea unless you really did a good job sealing the connection points)? And how would one make openings in the dry box for the on/off switch and exit port for the cords, without compromising it's waterproofness?

I wish I had taken pictures and notes when I built mine. I got rid of it when I sold my old kayak.

As far as mounting of rod holders and the battery box and the switches in the battery box I used aquarium silicone. Really any flexible silicone will seal it up no problem. Stainless hardware is a must.

+1. I used goop on mine. Just dont  bore holes bigger than your bolts. A little leak is acceptable. After all, your livewell will be constantly pumping fresh water in. One thing I made in addition was to add a secondary (lower/somewhere in the middle) drain. Having a livewell almost full of water will make your kayak stern heavy and maybe unstable and that was on an Outback. My baits stayed lively even with less water in it as long as you dont overcrowd them. Also, I added a drain hose leading to the outside of the kayak and not on the stern deck. I did this because the water was pooling on the stern deck and not reaching the scupper holes making it even heavier on the back. Ace Hardware sells a drain kit that works really well. Hope that helps.
