Looks like L41 has evolved some since the beginning of this thread in April.  Now there is a beveled tail.

Why is the tail narrower than the middle of the board?  Why doesn't it just go straight back?  He is trading stability for something, right?  What is gained?

Would like to see these companies making production foil boards slip a Tuttle box between the two mast tracks. Couple extra bucks, but allows for the use of all foils as they come, and not ending up having to pay the additional added cost by way of a convertor plate, anyway, and also changing the height of the stock mast by 3" or so in doing so. JMO....YMMV.

Lots do put both options in the boards still.

I checked out the foil offerings at Hi Tech in Kahului last week.
The Kalama board(s) is what I would like to go with.
I already surf a tiny Sup, so starting out on a DK 5’6”x27” foil-board doesn’t intimidate me (may I eat my words with every spill).
Also, they have a 4’6” “Tow Foil” which can be use as a surfboard foil.

Long story short, It’s roughly $3,000 to buy a foil-sup and Go Foil setup.

...looking for the trigger I need to pull.

How much volume is in the 5'6"?

Lots of new (custom) foil board showing up lately at San Onofre.  One guy was riding a prone board that made a boogie board look massive.

I still see no easy entry into foiling other than spending a big wad of cash on the chance that everything works the way somebody else says it should.

Maybe you're onto something... convert you're old beat-up prone board to a foil board.
should be $50 dollar job with the addition of the Rock Solid foil you're at $650. seems
somewhat reasonable for an entry level stuff.

Wouldn't it  be easier to learn how to foil prone rather than stand-up?

I don't think an old prone board will work as not thick enough to accept either the tuttle box/fin boxes and strong enough to withstand the force.  Also adding either the tuttle box or fin boxes will not be a $50 job unless you are doing it.

I tried stand-up, once, and decided to go prone.  It is kicking my ass (third attempt).  Going back for more Wednesday.

Burchas ... but how many rides before the break?  I saw a young guy out yesterday at San Onofre on a tiny skimboard with the foil bolted to it.
