So the C-14 came the week before Albion , I took it up and got the yak broke in ..lost two Salmon but managed a few RF and a Ling for ChuckE`s fish fry.

I took it up bare.No FF/GPS , 1 rod holder nothing other than the essential safety gear save 1 item ( minus compass) .

Hi Spiff,

As far as mounting the gps/ff I decided to do something similar to what I watched on a Headwaters how to video. I store the gps/ff in the front hatch and then set everything up before wheeling to the launch.  Once I'm on the water I only need to drop the transducer into position (I marked lines with a silver marker on the pivot points). The Scotty transducer mount is a bit flimsy but it works. The gps/ff mounts using a suction cup, which has worked quite well with the Hook 5. This method doesn't require any cutting or drilling into the kayak.

I was having a lot of trouble with the friction style of rod holders. No matter how tight I would set them up they would slowly drift  back fouling my paddling. I settled on a Stealth brand rod holder that won't budge once it is in position. It is also super easy to get the rod in and out without much reach.

I just ordered a laketroller down rigger so I will need to figure out how mount it next, so I can try for salmon in the next few weeks

Good luck on your efforts.

Hi Vic,

I am using the transducer that came with the Hook 5. The newest version is the Hook2 5 and I don't know if that transducer is the same.

Looks great! I guess I will be making the Wal-Mart run soon.
I feel like the few I have in my hull are sufficient but you can never have to much. Gonna add more.
I like the eyelets a lot.

I love those Railblaza mounts---no big holes to drill and yet a solid connection that won't slip or accidentally pull out. They are kinda spendy, but worth it, IMHO.
