Couple rescued from James River after canoe capsizes leaving one with back injury

BOTETOURT Co., Va. (WSET) -- The Troutville Volunteer Fire Department said a couple had to be rescued from the James River after their canoe capsized.

Officials said it's near the Botetourt and Rockbridge County line.

Crews said the incident left one of the canoers with a back injury and they were unable to get the water out of their canoe to go any farther downstream.

The fire department said their boat went into the water to rescue them around 12:15 p.m. Friday.
