Hi,

I am looking to move down from my 11' Mana to a smaller board. I am 1.90m and around the 95kg mark.

I have tried the 9'5" Mana unfortunately only on choppy days but was able to stand up and paddle fine and also managed to catch waves. Over the last two days I tried a Fanatic Stubby 8'6" which looks to be just too much of a drop as I spend more time trying to stand up, fall in, and getting back onto the board than actually paddling or catching waves. I did catch waves but I guess only in really calm conditions would ever be able to confidently paddle that for a bit.

I am keen to try the Hokua X32 in 9'0" or maybe even the 8'7". I live on the Sydney Northern beaches and just wondering if anyone had such a board and would be willing to let me have a try.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Alex

Alex,

I came off a 9'5 mana onto the 9'1 X32 Hokua. AN easy transition and noticed a huge improvement in my surfing immediately. Went to the 9'1 creek this summer another great improvement, but still love the hokua its just so loose and easy to rip on...

Years ago I went from a 9'5 starby widepoint to a 8'8 Hokua X32. I am a bit taller and the same weight. I loved the board, but at first I found it a bit tippy - especially fore and aft.

The X32 was a fun board, but it has a lot of rocker and sometimes it felt like it was pushing water ahead of it - but only when you were cruising or trying to keep moving when the wave went fat.

Sorry, I live in vicco.

I've had all the x32 s . Except the 8.3 ..I thought the 9.1 was the best out of all of them .
can't let you demo cause I sold them .
i surf smaller boards now ,but enjoyed my time on the 9 .
the 8'8 now the 8'7 has a huge amount of rocker ,you really have to paddle hard to catch the waves .
the x32s are
very good in smaller waves very loose ,best ridden as a quad .a very stable board at 32 wide .
a fun board if your out to try new moves .quite forgiving .once you find your balance .
the 9 is very loose for its size .if that's what your after .
