The 2018 R&R Hall of fame inductees came out today, 3 of my favorite bands are included this time, The Cars, Dire Straits, and a band that I thought was already in there, The Moody Blues, it's about time!

It takes a quiver to do that.

Agreed. A great band. I'm also surprised they hadn't already been inducted.

So I am hooked on Kirsty MacColl and the Pogues' Fairytale in New York. Mostly because its a great great Christmas carol, and recently because of a weird unintentional video my phone shot while this song played on my car's radio.

This is the official video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9jbdgZidu8

Hope this makes up for my Sufjan Stevens Christmas Unicorn post in July 2013.

By the way, I miss so many previously active Zoners. If you are one of them but still lurking, please come back.

Merry Christmas everyone past present and future.

Well... You asked.  I get into various music moods. Classic straight ahead jazz is it for now.

It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

That has to be among my top 3 fav Steely Dan songs.
"The Cuervo gold, the fine Columbian".

I was tooling around you-tube last night and I love these guys. The band is called The Dead South.

The guy on the cello is amazing.

So I'm sure you've heard the news about Neil Diamond's diagnosis with Parkinson's, sucks, one of my parents favorites, they saw him several times, had the records, so I heard him a lot, even though not really a fan.  But there was one exception, I was 16 when "Solitary Man" came out, just entering the period of games of love with girls, very frustrating, but I had surfing for momentary relief, and I also liked this song (the only one of his) which was becoming more of a relief/respite as the games continued.

Same here, my dad was a fan. And that is a good piece of song writing.
You got me thinking of my dad and his music tastes, resulting in me and my brother  being exposed, back in the day, to Jefferson Airplane, Donovan, The Doors, Pete Seeger, Leon Russell, Buffy St. Marie, Neil Diamond, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Leonard Cohen... all pumped out of a big quadraphonic Sansui and old school JBLs. There was a TEAC reel-to-reel too of course  ;D

steely dan? loved most of their stuff

but "my old school" on Countdown to Ecstasy is fave--the guitar solo is unique and superlative--i believe executed by occasional standin denny diaz

sad story about his much younger gorgeous prepster girlfriend who got addicited to smack while shacking with becker and od'ed
