Doesn't matter if it's cigars, flowers, or farts:  if it's not specifically prohibited it's allowed - up or down wind. There is no constitutional right to choose what you smell.  If you don't like it then you move up or down wind.  I'm free to stink where I'm at.

Just because you have a right doesn't mean you have to use it.  It's been so long since Californians were allowed to smoke everywhere.  I went to another state and was eating in a restaurant where smoking was allowed and it was just nasty and then remembered how bad it was when I was a kid.  If people would have just been a little considerate about their smoke they wouldn't have had to create a law to prevent it.  I am all for rights and would leave if something was offensive.  Except there are circumstances where there is no offense noticed until after I start eating and then it turns into who's rights are more important. Someone wanting to stink the place up or me wanting to eat without having to smell crap.

It's like if you were about to shit your pants.  Would you do it in the middle of dinner or go somewhere else.  Yeah some probably can't help it but if you can you would not want to take a dump in the middle of a restaurant even if it was your constitutional right.

Further, I think you just equated smoking a cigar to shitting your pants.

Seems like common courtesy (regardless if "prohibited") not to smoke right next to a group (which usually includes families with kids) at an NCKA event which is where CDM was talking about smoking...

Call it Uncommon Courtesy if you will. I like to smoke a cigar once in awhile, but will not do so in an area where that may bother or offend others.

I'm willing to move to another location with like-minded individuals so we can enjoy without bothering others.

This

We will always be courteous about where we decide to smoke cigars as part of my hookups.

That is why I stated that on the original post.

If anyone wants to debate on where you can or can't smoke please start your own thread.

Thank you

No, it was more like I wouldn't shit my pants because it's allowed.

I think most of the other guys and gals get it.  You don't have to.  That's also a right.

CDM,

I don't smoke but I know some who love a cigar once in awhile.  I hope you guys find some really good ones and tell a lot of fish stories while you are at it.

Right. Unfortunately the CA costal commission hates oysters. The oyster industry in humboldt bay is in danger of being run out of town.
