Gert Waves
« on: August 17, 2017, 07:21:39 AM »
Nova Scotia is getting the goods today, meanwhile those of us in New Brunswick are just happy to be getting Gert's leftovers that make it up the Bay of Fundy.

Fun morning on some knee slappers. We'll take just about anything, it's been a flat summer.

Gert was a squirt in southern Maine..big disappointment.  I guess best waves were while everyone was sleeping.

Caribsurf.  Agree.  Majority of the waves we got in portland area were waist high.  There were a handful that were twice as big, came out of no where, but they were few and far between.  Best part of sessions was watching seal eat pogies.

Sorry it ran thru NH/Maine at nite
It's just a reminder of how fickle these windows are

Cape Cod never showed any size, and the wind was wrong...our beachbreak can't handle that much long period anyway

Rhode island seems to get swell focus as storms travel N, from that frequent "Halfway to Bermuda" zone

But even yesterday it was fun size from morning to 3, but then pulsed up quickly where I was at........around  3-4 o'clock and then dropped again.

My buddy wanted a break, I stayed out and took my break 45 minutes later, was glad I waited even though I was washed out

Too many for the rack
Some in the shack
Some under decks
Some have straps

I enjoyed that! Very cool. I visited Nova Scotia in Aug, 2015 and saw Bay of Fundy. Drove right past it though. Def had my attention. I think it would be sooo cool to surf it. You certainly are doing a fine job of it. Cool you scored. Here in New Jersey Gert pumped really nicely. Quite powerful w/many overheads. Very lucky we were.

I like the power plant in your vid and the view of the beach as you wait for a wave. Tossed in some Gert from here in NJ. Stoke was high.

One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

Nice, I have to make a trip down thru New England next year. We anxiously awaiting Jose, since Irma was a bust here. I went to NS last weekend and scored over there.
