My Four Boards
« on: July 19, 2017, 08:40:45 AM »
Recently added an 8'0" x 4-3/8" Cannibal "Blade" to my quiver. I have a serious standup paddleboarding problem! Haven't been on a proner in months. Long vid here w/all my boards in recent sessions. Mostly GoPro clips w/only a few SOLOSHOTs because my Kodak Z980 was stolen in Costa Rica and it would shoot 35min blocks at a time w/out a shutter reset. My Canon SX50 only shoots 15 mins at a time and needs a reset. Hopefully the SOLOSHOT3 will arrive soon and I'll restoke the beach pov.
Left the ocean sounds paired w/some of my mellow acoustic RECs in this edit. It was alotta work editing the audio. Funny thing was after upload YouTube recognized one of my RECs which is a cover of "Cherry Hill", a song by Acoustic Alchemy. I was in contact via email w/one of the members a few yrs back and he sent me a few of their tunes tabbed out.
Enjoy, Zoners!  8)

(Blade clips are around the 06:15 mark)

One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

Very nice video. From watching the video, I liked you surfing the 9'11" Wide Ripper the best. I guess I'm a sucker for a longboard sup.

Thanks for sharing your video.

The Wide Ripper isn't a longboard shape. The sides have a continuous curve running the length of the board.

That board would be great for choppy overhead days when you need the extra stability and glide, or for paddling to a distant break.

Exactly correct, Badge. The Ripper is a shortboard shape. Quite pulled in nose and tail and plenty of rocker. According to the PSH website the 9'11" Ripper is the only one board quiver you will ever need. It works in everything from two to ten feet. And that is sooo true. I'm on my second one and it's taken quite a few hits in the two yrs I've owned it. I need to unload the thing and find a nice used one again!  :P

Cookieman.... I really enjoyed that awesome edit!

Lots of work in a vid like that... well done and appreciated.

Having surfed the Cooks PSH Ripper, I agree it is a really fun board and surfs easily. Classic shape.

I gotta get down that way soon and surf with you again!

the little nose 'flip' really is intresting on that board- Cook- is that stock- or is that a tip repair?

lol...both! last summer I had the unfortunate pleasure to have Assassin crash into Ripper while a friend was using it. I carelessly negotiated a white water paddle over on my knees and Assassin washed right into Ripper dinging both boards. But I'm not sure where you're seeing the flipped up nose aka "Alotta Rocker". The white board is my old one which I sold. The blue is my current and that's the one that crashed. Assassin's deck washed right into Ripper's nose. It was quite saddening and both needed repairing.
The Ripper has so much rocker throughout. Thing can handle the late drops easily. Also it weighs alot so it gets into the wave nicely.
