Put it in the river - Video adventure
« on: July 20, 2017, 04:06:35 PM »
One of my teachers says to put our creations or endeavors in the "river" and then let go.  Where the current takes them or where they end up is out of our control, and therefore it makes no sense to worry about the outcome.

I will be back up in Tahoe in a month or so and I look forward to seeing where the current takes me.
Aloha, I welcome and appreciate all responses of positivity and good feeling.

An interesting video. The next time you go to Tahoe, beside your foil board and your foil/skateboard, take a fly rod and an assortment of wet and dry flies and you just might be able to catch dinner on the river.  ;)

Thanks for sharing your video.

I hear you, and I agree fishing on the river is a great idea.

We caught a few fish, none keepers, saw a couple that got away...

Clay,

This past spring I spent a lot of time learning the do's and don'ts of river foil surfing in standing waves. What to look for, depth, and mainly foil set ups. From what I learned, rivers run between 5-8 mph's (8 mph's as the water flows down into the standing wave) so really big wing configurations are necessary. I did catch a standing wave on the Crazy Foil set up with about 250 square inches in the front and 80 inches on the rear wing. We are at the infancy of river foiling standing waves and learning a ton. Feel free to hit me up for more info.

It kind of translates to wake foil surfing in the sense of a standing wave- if the wings are below the wave then it will die out.

Ben
