I've gotta face the reality that I'm just a wobbly old man :)

You and me both.....and 26" is well balanced

And yes, 16ft to me seems like the perfect "all round" size. I'll probably stick with that length for a flatwater or all-waters board next.

Now I am envious 16ft is the new 14ft. Not long enough to be boasting but long enough to help gentlemen looking their best.

Did you stalk them like that on M2M Gregg? No wonder you had such a good result.
Poor Lana, I can only imagine her face when she didn't see you at the rendezvous
point YET AGAIN after pulling the same stunt on her in Knanaha. ;D

Great Vid. I know you have more stuff

Yuval, unfortunetely I didn't, those guys were too faaaastt. Lana was stressed out when I decided to continue to the harbor I was just having too much fun so I decided to not stop :) Then when you left in couple of days Maliko was just fabulous - you should have seen Lana's face - she couldn't breathe out of excitement. That day paddle wasn't even needed.

Nice video. Thanks for sharing it. Yeah, good to see so many new faces in the water. There have been some really good maliko days as well as south side days lately. I think I paddled the last mile or so into the harbor a couple weeks ago chatting with you. Maybe not you? You had mentioned you were from Florida but thinking about moving here. Either way I hope you enjoyed your time here on Maui.

That was me 808sup. It was great to chat with you. I will be back next year. I had the most amazing time on Maui.

16 is a great size - I ran Maliko on f16 and it fit the troughs better - i didn't have to turn it that much. I should have opted for f16 for my first Maui 2 Molokai since f16 is a more relaxed ride in the channel where swell was quite a bit bigger. But rudder thing grew on me.

Interesting that you say that about the F16 gzasinets. The F16 seemed to fall out of favour on this forum for a while, but lately plenty of people seem to be singing it's praises again. For me, there is a turning point somewhere between 16 and 17 feet where "surfing" the board changes into "piloting" the board. Both are great experiences. But subtly different. But I'm only an average size guy. No doubt for bigger guys (or more skillful guys) that switchover point might come at a longer length, and handling 17ft+ boards in strong crosswinds and shorebreak might be no problem for them. It's the usual "agility vs. straight line speed" trade-off, I guess.

Area, i don't know why people would dislike f16. I do think it is a great dw board for appropriate conditions. When wind is not strong and swell is smaller then bullet will be a better choice imho. I think it might be that it is not fast in flatter condtions (race start that involves couple of miles of flat water paddling before you get into bumps). I get it when it is all about time to get to the finish line. But when you want to have fun in the bumps f16 is great, easy to stay on even if you try crazy stupid stuff.
I agree on piloting vs surfing. My 14 sic is easy to surf where as on unlimited i was on the rudder. Turning it quick requires some great experience. I think like everything in life has its pros and cons so do the sups.

Color and image quality were fabulous.  This wasn't the day I watched Lana was it?  You're getting much better.

Re: dugouts I'm still not a fan. I notice how they wobble under foot. Even for those experts. Not a feeling I like. Nor am I seeking to stay glued in a parallel stance, I like the need to move around. I can see how they can be fast for races but I remain firmly in this game for planing and surfy carvy piloting   fun.

They look, and feel, like canoes.

Speaking of boards on Maui are there any more pics of the new Bayonette?

Agree 100%. Although they are fast, for me being in parallel stance kinda kills it. I think dw is some sort of art. Watching Jeremy Riggs doing it gives me goose bumps. So i am with you on that. What concerns Bayonette i will see if I have some.

There's a certain point where I have to consider aesthetics and those boards look hideous to me. The canoe federation probably loves it though, those boards will help their argument.
