With just a quick search hand operated bilge pumps cost a lot. O'Rileys has "transfer pumps" that pump air/water/or oil and siphon! for under $15 I don't know the exact gallons per minute but it seams to be about 5 gallons in just over a minute... I tested the dog water bucket 😅

Floating NRS or Seattle Sports bilge pumps are $19.95.

Yep.  Safety gear is not the place to be pinching pennies.

For $5 more it floats but besides that it's a max 8 gal per minute ... I didn't actually run a watch when I drained the 5gal bucket but I would say that they are probably very close in output ... I am also very much for safety I have 3 little girls I love to come home too 😊 But not everyone can afford the best and sometimes have to make do with what they can... I trust this pump because I have used 1 for years doing fluid changes on my truck which has had a lot of corrosive chemicals go through it and it still works

That is a serious pump $40 isn't a bad price for the output does it have a hose for the inlet ... I'm not sure if I could stay on top if I had to pump from a hatch my kayak is stable enough  but my balance is not🤣

I'd be wary of the O'riley pump. Borrowed one from a friend that he'd used once, and it disintegrated the first time I tried to use it. Granted, that's with gasoline, not water, but still.

I would want a reliable pump for any situation. Anyone have a nice electric bilge pump setup?

But Mojo, you can get two real bilge pumps for same the price of those squirt guns - and have some pennies left over for water balloons.

In retrospect, I was probably too harsh in my first comment.  I have a Scotty pump with metal components that moves a lot of water (and costs twice what the O'Reilly pump costs) but it's always better to have some kind of pump than it is to have no pump at all.
