Opelika man dies after kayaking incident

WETUMPKA, AL (WTVM) - Alabama State Troopers are investigating the death of an Opelika man who was found in a river.
Authorities say Charles Cloninger Jr. was found in the water at Gold Star Park in Wetumpka Sunday afternoon.
They say the 71-year-old was kayaking on the Coosa River near Corn Creek when he apparently fell out.
Cloninger was pronounced dead at the Elmore County Hospital.
