That's crappy customer service and not what I expected to hear after urging you to call in.  I'd be pissed, too.

The most likely point for water to enter is the door to the memory card slot.  Some folks seal that with GOOP.  I check that it's properly closed and sealed just before mounting it.

Thanks for the info. The gasket was definitely in place. Do you mean using marine goop? Wouldn't that be permanent?

If the water entered through an improperly closed SD card door, what should Lowrance do? Free replacement FF, probably not. Bad design? I think so too. If the rubber seal is failing we are going to see a lot of this going forward and Lowrance will lose a lot of kayak customers. I can't seal mine with goop because I want to have the ability to use it.

I'm not sure where the water entered. The SD card gasket and the gasket for the hole on the back were both properly shut. When I removed the red and blue nuts from the back that hold the cable plugs, I had a strong feeling that those are where the water entered. The holes didn't look flush with the plugs so there was space in between. I'll be marine gooping those this time. Might be worth looking into if you have one yourself.

Good point!  I have one head unit that's become difficult to connect/disconnect the transducer cable.  I thought it was operator technique, but I'll have a closer look at it now.

Thanks.
