It took along time to get the battery but I couldn't be happier! 9.8 amp hrs for $27+ and after I installed in a box I picked up for $15 it weighs 1.4 lbs . Thank you all for the advice! Now I just have to wait until after I finish buying a house to put it to use 🎣

Very curious on this. Needing something bigger for my Hook9 other than my 7.5ah. Be nice to have 2 of these on board. My only worry is the switch failing

Couldn't you just wire them parallel?

I would be cautious buying a battery imported from China.  The quality can sometimes be questionable.

I use a similar 9800maH blue brick.

They are 9.8 amps ONLY at 5v out, and amperage drops by about 50% at 12v out - it's roughly a 4.8amp battery when running a fish finder.

You should always have the watertight box open when charging them.

It will cost more, but the new Wilderness Lithium battery would work. That is if they ever get them for sale.  :smt002

Let me re-word it, ships from China. As Tinker mentioned its only half the capacity of whats its advertised.  What sticks out to me is the Specs are not immediately available ( Configuration, Constant Discharge, Peak Discharge, Pack Weight, Pack Size, Charge Plug)  You have read through 38 pages of questions to find this out. Another thing to consider is warranty claims if the unit needs to returned or exchanged.  Its a long shipping time.
It should be fine for a 4 inch FF.  I would consider something else for a larger FF unit.

Kinda sorta but they're not $27.  That's a killer deal if the quality is decent.

Non-Chinese made probably use cells that are made in China and then assemble them into packs here in the US or elsewhere. That can make a difference in the quality.

This:
What sticks out to me is the Specs are not immediately available ( Configuration, Constant Discharge, Peak Discharge, Pack Weight, Pack Size, Charge Plug)...

Example:  https://www.bioennopower.com/collections/12v-series-lifepo4-batteries (these are (LiFePO)
All specs are disclosed. Also expensive AF but high quality and fully warrantied.

The Chinese blue bricks do work, they're just odd little things.

I ran my Lowrance Hook-5 with the 9800 maH blue brick yesterday and the Hook-5 showed that it dropped from a fully charged 12.1 volts to 10.9 volts in four hours with the settings I use on the fish-finder.  (It's a new blue brick).

I use the blue brick only when I'm in freshwater.  I still use a 9 amp SLA when I'm in saltwater.

I purchased the 20 amp blue brick, it ran well for almost a year and then completely died on me. I did notice some odd things during the time I used it though. My FF randomly shutting off was one of them. I switched back to a 13lb 20ah deep cycle battery and been happy with it.

With Lithium batteries you really get what you paid for. Only buy from reputable sources where they disclose the full specs of the batteries. User reviews help. But to have a peace of mind, I test each lithium battery I purchase. Two things I check for are the true capacity of the pack and the internal resistance. Internal resistance is equivalent to the health of the battery. Higher the resistance the faster the pack will die.

There are different grades of batteries in each batch they manufacture. You can be sure the cheap batteries sold on the internet are of lower grades. Places like HobbyKing would tell you the actual grade of the battery they sell. $27 for a 12v 10amp battery is unreasonably cheap and should raise all sorts of red flags. But I guess people factor in the short-comings into their buying decisions.

There are a good number of reputable places to buy lithium batteries. HobbyKing and BatterySpace are my goto stores. I would never buy oem bricks from unknown sources.

Btw Woodchuck, could you tell me something about that yellow battery case?

Yes but if it fails it was under $30 ... I could have made my own pack of recharging AA but this way was easy

The cost could end up being a bit higher if it melts a hole in your kayak...
