MARQUETTE, MI - Mushers weren't the only thing being pulled at the U.P. 200 Sled Dog Race on Sunday, Feb. 19.

Michigan State Troopers also went for a ride, not by sled dog, but in a canoe pulled by snowmobile. It happened during the annual event held at Lakenenland, an outdoor sculpture park located 15 miles east of Marquette.

Tpr. Josh Nasser and Tpr. Randy Rovelsky of the Negaunee Post agreed to go for a ride in a canoe if $100 was raised in an impromptu community fundraising event. The community raised more than $350 and the troopers held up their end of the deal.

Video if the duo riding in the canoe on snow has since become quite popular on social media. One video has more than 750 shares and more than 88,000 views.

Due to warm weather, the U.P. 200 had to be unexpectedly stopped 10 miles out of Marquette. The two troopers assisted in the community fundraising event meant to help offset the cost in moving the finish line of the race.
